Jeffery Smith MD is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York Medical College, Leader of the Psychotherapy Caucus of the American Psychiatric Association and President of SEPI. He is working on a new book to help trainees and early career therapists use a modern understanding of human troubles to guide their work, regardless of previous training or orientation.

Dr. Özakkaş is founding president of the Psychotherapy Institute, Turkiye and founding president of Psychotherapy Institute Association. He has taught the four-year post-doctoral training program on Integrative Psychotherapy since 2005 and is a pioneer in bridging the gap between Turkiye, Balkans, Caucasia, Middle Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. He is the head of Turkish chapters of SEPI and IsEFT, and Turkish institutional member of IAPSP. As the Regional Network Coordinator, he received Arnkoff & Glass Award for Regional Network of the Year from SEPI in 2017. He led the organization of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th National Integrative Psychotherapy Congresses in Turkiye and the 1st International Integrative Psychotherapy Congress in Turkiye. He teaches at workshops for mental health professionals, public & private employees, and general public. He presents extensively in national and international conferences on psychotherapy integration, hypnotherapy, personality disorders, and anxiety disorders. He has many articles and several books on these subjects, including Integrative Psychotherapy (12th edition).

Jeffrey J. Magnavita, Ph.D. is a psychologist, psychotherapist, and author who is known as an innovator in the treatment of mental health disorders. Jeffrey has been in private practice for over four decades and is the recipient of numerous awards for his work. He is an internationally recognized speaker who has published twelve professional volumes on personality disorders, personality theory, psychotherapy, clinical decision making and technology in mental health practice. He has been described as “perhaps the most prominent psychologist in the broad area of mental health practice” and was featured in two acclaimed APA psychotherapy videos demonstrating his approach to psychotherapy. He served on the APA Clinical Practice Guidelines Advisory Steering Committee and is the past president of the Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy. He is president elect (2026) for the Society of Psychotherapy Integration and is the CEO of Strategic Psychotherapeutics, LLC and the creator of StratPsych ®, an online learning platform for psychotherapists.
